⁣Billy, Fuzzy and Jeff interrupt a stagecoach robbery and discover that one of the passengers, the sheriff of Sage Valley was shot in the back by one of the other passengers. Upon arrival in Sage Valley Mayor Jed Harrison appoints Billy Sheriff to arrest the criminal mastermind Kansas Ed that turns out to be Billy's long lost brother.

⁣A soldier survives a bombing in which his three fellow soldiers were killed. When he recovers he discovers he has amnesia, and since his companions' bodies were burned beyond recognition, the army doesn't know which one of the four he is. He goes AWOL and searches out the families of the three dead soldiers, hoping to find out his own identity.

⁣Lucy is so overworked that Mary Jane warns her she'll have a nervous breakdown. Meanwhile, a performer from the bank's benefit show leaves his trained ape in Mr. Mooney's office. Lucy sees the simian, believes she's finally snapped, and is convinced that the hairy creature is actually Mooney.

⁣Tolliver and his outlaw gang of former pirates have kidnapped two women and demanded a ransom of 1000 pounds. Hawkeye infiltrates the gang in an attempt to get them back.

⁣ A cowboy whose friend has been swindled out of his ranch and then murdered must take care of the man's son, then he goes after the killers.

⁣Lucy calls in sick so she can join her roommate at a Palm Springs resort. Unfortunately, her boss, Mr. Mooney, is staying at the same hotel.
