They marry and he tries farming again but, on the night their son is born, he takes off again searching for gold. This time he heads for the hills with an inveterate prospector, Jimmo McCann. A decade later, the two are still hunting for their big strike when McCann is killed in an accident. Powell returns home with news of a big strike but the deserted Julie will have nothing to do with him. His friend Killian will not believe him but Haver, now a banker gives him a small loan and then beats him out of his claim. Many years pass before he comes home, now sixty-years-old, and this time, his wife and son open their home to him. But he vows to go prospecting come next spring.

When the ranchers prove reluctant, the crooks break down the ranchers fences and accuse the herd of the destruction. While riding the range, Ricky and Lorna stumble onto the truth but are captured and held prisoner by the owlhoots.

⁣Jim runs into a group of farmers who are paying protection money to an old woman who threatens to unleash the ghost of an infamous Louisiana pirate against them if they don't pay.

⁣Hank Enos was running a local tungsten mine. After he breaks his leg, he recuperates at the the Broken Wheel Ranch. Joey and Hank catch some claim jumpers at the mine and Fury has to rescue them.

⁣It's just after the Civil War and Captain Morgan and his confederate soldiers are establishing a town on the Bozeman trail. Colonel Strong and his union men are at the nearby fort.

⁣Billy breaks jail in Texas and travels to Sundown at the request of his friend Fuzzy. There he runs into Mort Slade who is after a mortgage held by banker Ainsley. Slade's men rob the bank and then incite a run on the bank knowing Ainsley does not have enough money.

⁣A soldier survives a bombing in which his three fellow soldiers were killed. When he recovers he discovers he has amnesia, and since his companions' bodies were burned beyond recognition, the army doesn't know which one of the four he is. He goes AWOL and searches out the families of the three dead soldiers, hoping to find out his own identity.

⁣A young man returns to Diablo to practice medicine after his father put him through medical school.

⁣Surveyor George Washington aids a young woman whose land grant is threatened by a wicked innkeeper.

⁣Night riders are terrorizing homesteaders, and the town doctor tries to keep the locals from forming a vigilante group. After more towns people are killed, however, the rest of the town makes the doctor the town sheriff and tells him to clean up the gang.
