Lucy Carmichael, a guileless widow with two children who shares her home with divorcee Vivian Bagley and her son, gets into comical situations and dilemmatic circumstances.

⁣ Mr. Mooney foolishly allows Lucy to try on a $6,000 anniversary ring he bought for his wife. When it becomes stuck on her finger, Lucy takes some tranquilizers to help her relax. The pills make her loopy, leaving Mooney to drag around a semi-conscious redhead while trying to un-stick the ring.

⁣Mr. Cheever warns Mr. Mooney that his job is in jeopardy unless he attracts new business to their branch of the bank. So when Lucy hears that a recording star, country hick Homer Higgins (Ernie Ford), is about to become a California resident, she sets off to the hotel to coax him into setting up an account with their bank. To impress Mr. Higgins and his family, Lucy and Mr. Mooney set up a hoe-down in the bank after it closes that evening...and Lucy decides to dress down to pose as Mrs. Mooney.

⁣A member of the notorious Wild Bunch bandit gang escapes from Ranger Clint Travis' custody, resulting in his being fired. Furious, Travis sets out to take on the whole gang and salvage his career and reputation.

⁣The newspaper editor of Wilcox asks the Rangers for help, and two of them are dispatched to the town. However, when they get there they find the editor has been lynched and is hanging from a tree.

⁣A gang of convicts has escaped from prison, but Capt. Rynning's can't get any more men to help capture them.

⁣A crooked horse trader tries to get Sandy North and the other ranchers to sign a petition to allow him to round up all the wild horses in the valley. When the ranchers prove reluctant, the crooks break down the ranchers fences and accuse the herd of the destruction. While riding the range, Ricky and Lorna stumble onto the truth but are captured and held prisoner by the owlhoots.

⁣An old cowboy returns to visit Ricky and Sandy and help them round up a gang of desperadoes.
