⁣Tracy Powell, an Indiana farmer, gets the gold fever and heads for Stockton, California in 1849. There, he abandons his first partner, Bert Killian, and teams up with Sam Wilkins, a claim jumper employed by Willis Haver. Six years later, Powell returns to Indiana and his sweetheart, Julie. They marry and he tries farming again but, on the night their son is born, he takes off again searching for gold. This time he heads for the hills with an inveterate prospector, Jimmo McCann. A decade later, the two are still hunting for their big strike when McCann is killed in an accident. Powell returns home with news of a big strike but the deserted Julie will have nothing to do with him. His friend Killian will not believe him but Haver, now a banker gives him a small loan and then beats him out of his claim. Many years pass before he comes home, now sixty-years-old, and this time, his wife and son open their home to him. But he vows to go prospecting come next spring.

⁣When a bank president is murdered, the townspeople accuse the man's future son-in-law of the crime and a lynching party is formed. Cisco and Pancho must find out who the real killers are before the mob hangs the innocent man.

⁣ Tex is up against a group of hooded outlaws. When he shoots one, he uses the hood to infiltrate the gang. Almost caught by them, he escapes only to be arrested by the Sheriff who thinks he's one of the gang.

⁣Billy, Fuzzy and Jeff interrupt a stagecoach robbery and discover that one of the passengers, the sheriff of Sage Valley was shot in the back by one of the other passengers. Upon arrival in Sage Valley Mayor Jed Harrison appoints Billy Sheriff to arrest the criminal mastermind Kansas Ed that turns out to be Billy's long lost brother.

⁣Billy breaks jail in Texas and travels to Sundown at the request of his friend Fuzzy. There he runs into Mort Slade who is after a mortgage held by banker Ainsley. Slade's men rob the bank and then incite a run on the bank knowing Ainsley does not have enough money.

⁣Cisco and Pancho are forced to switch clothes with two escaped convicts, and are later arrested when they are mistaken for the fleeing criminals.

⁣ Hawkeye and Chingachgook escort young Greg to his Aunt and Uncle. Greg's parents are recently deceased, making him the sole heir to a valuable mine. There have been numerous attempts on Greg's life. Hawkeye and Chingachgook suspect the Uncle...but proving it is another matter.

⁣Gene Autry and Smiley Burnette are back, and this time they’re dealing with some very modern thinking rustlers. These new criminals have taken up the latest technologies to outsmart the authorities, including shortwave radios and airplanes! Can Gene and Smiley get ‘em? You bet! Songs include "The West Aint What It Used To Be," "I Got the Heebie­Jeebie Blues," and "The Defective Detective from Brooklyn." Gene also gets romantic when he sings, "I Picked up the Trail when I Found You..."

⁣Kalmus is after the freight contract held by Summers. When his gang kill Summers, Tex and Duke step in to help Madge keep the freight line going. When they foil the gang's further attempts, Kalmus gets the Judge to jail the two.

⁣Someone is selling illegal guns to the Indians. The townspeople blame gunsmith Eben Cotten.
