⁣Cole's henchman Anders has engineered a fake range conflict between cattlemen and sheepmen in order to obtain the Delaney property. He tries to kill his daughter Jill and then Roy, who was assigned to investigate the war, after killing Delaney. However, the failed attempts provide Roy with the knowledge he requires.
