Bob makes it back to Ranger headquarters and is told by his father, Ranger Captain Dan Houston that they can officially do nothing as the Rangers have been disbanded by the New Mexico state government. After a farewell dinner, with rangers played by Glenn Strange, Chcuk Baldra and Cactus Mack singing "Auld Lang Syne", they all go their own ways, with Bob going back to college. A few months later, Bob learns that Jim Reynolds, the former head of the Rangers and father of the girl Bob loves,Barbara Reynolds, has been murdered.

Johnny tries to rescue his sister, but is killed after he falls and cracks his head on a gravestone. Barbra flees, with the killer in pursuit; eventually to an empty farmhouse where to her horror she discovers a half-eaten woman's corpse. Running out of the house, she notices several menacing figures akin to her pursuer; whereupon a man named Ben (Duane Jones) arrives in a car and takes her inside the house.

⁣Ken Maynard's palomino stallion, Tarzan, is spotlighted in this action-packed western. Horse thieves are running rampant, decimating rancher's herds. When Tarzan frees one of the herds held by the rustlers, the leader of the gang has the mighty horse declared an outlaw and demands he be shot.

⁣ Easterner John Abbott heads west to investigate the trouble on the ranch he owns. Abbott's manager Holderness is the culprit and has his man shoot Abbott and leave him for dead. But Abbott recovers, and practicing with a gun, will be ready the next time.
