Many years pass before he comes home, now sixty-years-old, and this time, his wife and son open their home to him. But he vows to go prospecting come next spring.

Barbra flees, with the killer in pursuit; eventually to an empty farmhouse where to her horror she discovers a half-eaten woman's corpse. Running out of the house, she notices several menacing figures akin to her pursuer; whereupon a man named Ben (Duane Jones) arrives in a car and takes her inside the house.
